The Essentials - Richard Burton and Elizabeth Taylor
Taylor and Burton appeared together in nearly a dozen films and in 1983 also co-starred on Broadway in Noel Coward's Private Lives. Ms. Taylor was nominated five times for Best Actress Academy Awards -- for Raintree County, Cat on a Hot Tin Roof, Suddenly, Last Summer, Butterfield 8 and Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf? She won for the latter two. Burton never received any Oscars® although he was nominated seven times -- for Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?, My Cousin Rachel, The Robe, Becket, The Spy Who Came in from the Cold, Anne of the Thousand Days and Equus.
Richard Burton died of a cerebral hemorrhage in 1984, and friends say Taylor calls Burton "one of the two great loves of my life." (The other was Hollywood producer Mike Todd, who died tragically in a plane crash just after their first anniversary.) After starring in nearly 60 feature films, Elizabeth Taylor has been a tireless humanitarian in her recent years. In spite of struggling with serious health problems, she has raised more than $100 million in the crusade against AIDS.

A legend in every sense.
My Dad and I used to watch the Benny Hill Show and laugh through the whole show. He was a talented Comedian and his fellow Comedians. I am glad I can see these clips on UA-cam. Thank you
I find it sad that Burton, Gielgud etc..were hard line atheists…such blessed lives and yet no idea as to where there gifts came from.x
Loved it when I watched it as a kid, did not get all of it I reckon, and watched a translated version. Now I have to fess up that I spent a large chunk of time and fiddeling with several weird apps to install the intro music as my NEW ringtone (total premiere), including file conversion and everything A friend of mine just called and it made me absurdly happy to hear the song start playing… Enjoy watching, my fellow nerds And how unusual, an episode playing in a train in the US

I bet he hated being in that pub and not having a pint,,,,( as a former alcoholic i know ) ,,,
I recall first hearing his mellifluous voice on 78 records as he recited poetry.Still have one,RIP, dear Sir. J.I.M.K Mrs. Brisbane, Australia ❤ 🇦🇺 😀 🪃

The bad guys in these shows always wore 3-piece suits, it was like their uniforms.
How I can only wish that my verbal presentation was this elegant.
NO NO NOOO... i love the original
Always fancied that female actress colt was guarding! 😝😝😝😝😝😝 Gorgeous woman!
At 53:00 - ish, of reviews..."If they're good, they're not good enough, and if they're bad, ..."
Glorious ! 😂 I think I've quoted more from this particular skit than any other ! Superb ! 😊
I could listen to him read the phone book all day.
Jeez, Richard Burton was the best person to ever come out of Wales, including Jones, Bassey, Thomas, & everyone else, his voice is rich, deep, commanding, baritone, &perfect, & his acting ability & talent was 1st class, he is up there with the Greats, R. I. P.
LOAD OF BOLLOKS.
He was a star in every sense of the word.
Scum era. Worse now.
Broadsword calling Danny boy.
One of my favorite shows, I sure wish I had that truck.
Parkinson or Cavett so bad love Burton but can’t watch 🙄
Love Burton cannot stand Parkinson cannot watch
Looks wasted by booze and tobacco
Benny Hill as menopausal Elizabeth Taylor, priceless😂
Who’s Afraid of Virgin Wool? Benny Hill’s comic genius!
There's a version of Shakespeare's THE TEMPEST on youtube, done live in the 60s, that stars Maurice Evans as Prospero~~and Burton, this amazingly handsome man, plays a damned good Caliban, costarring Lee Remick & Roddy McDowell.😊
Orson Wells had the same Churchill story but it was Othello.
Senza Elizabeth no no no no 😢😢😢😢😢😢😢
Incredible mimic of Olivier. The man's a genius.
Chain smoking probably contributed to his voice and maybe his death?
Alcohol too.
Yes, a pleasure to watch again. Has such depth of character become outdated today? Answers please!
I just saw the original Brief Encounter for the 10th time at least only it was in color. This version is very enjoyable & both Burton & Loren are terrific in it; however, I don't feel the chemistry or the intensity between them like in the original. In fact, Loren's over thinking of it is very annoying. She doesn't sound tortured at all, just realizing she is not doing the right thing. Thank you for uploading & letting me watch it.
Michael Parkinson's excuse for his casual attire doesn't ring true to me. It shows lack of respect to his guest. Is he trying to have us believe because it was early in the morning, that he couldn't find a shirt & tie to put on. He must of known that he was going to interview the great Richard Burton when he left the house that morning.
Thanks for the upload. Been looking for this movie

Such an awesome hairpiece ! , almost as impressive as his fake humility and his eternally contrived voice affect depending on the question. Pompous ass
A wooden film actor. "Equus" and "The Wild Geese" were both flops, and Burton was never considered a star afterwards.
Burton was a wooden film actor who shouted far too much.
Paul Eddington! I knew he appeared on this show, forgot which one.
What a man.
She was an incredible woman …. Extremely intelligent and beautiful… she has done a lot about AIDS and helped many people and friends… I think she had a very full life despite her many illnesses… and she was an incredible actress… RIP dear Elizabeth… we miss your talent… and your generosity ….
That last soliloquy literally gave me chills. Burton speaking Churchill: greatness.
Good evening from SWANSEA in South Wales..Wales is a small country but Richard Burton put us on the map.. Great interview 👍👍
Thanks 🙏
Presumably knowing Mr Burton he would have to have approved with the main story of the show before being in it ie Banks are crimminal entities. One of his wives in the late 1970s did a lot to age Mr Burton (not the way u tickturds think) to the point of his untimely murder. Love how he took the mickie out of the press about him being a fake alcholic like Prince killed himself or Mr M Jackson was an accident. I thought his last movie was 1984 but he was supposed to be in wild geese 2 about Rudolf Hess the english go between of WW2 just before he was murdered in 1987 ie the signal of the falling of the iron curtain as organised by both sides (ie the same sides) years in advance of the sh t you are fed and love to eat
These personalities were golden era, sadly we don't have these types anymore in the movies.
The interview was fascinating. I'm so proud to have a little Welsh blood. Cavett's comments are equally scintillating. God bless both.
"Tonight you'll have time to knit yourself a pair!" LOL
